I'm a big fan of colour so perhaps that's why I like the stronger ones, although I haven't yet tried them with my other W&N paints to see how they interact. I do agree that the yellows are too similar to raw sienna and yellow ochre.Stephanie Guy Fine Arthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06681973356460416448noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1600261154870832251.post-35293218234376082962014-05-05T12:25:44.001+01:002014-05-05T12:25:44.001+01:00Interesting to hear what you thought of these Step...Interesting to hear what you thought of these Stephanie. My favourite was Indian Red. I found some of the others too strong and over powering compared to other Winsor & Newton colours. I also found some of the colours too similar to others in their range. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I think once I'm used to them I'll love them - I'm convinced they are thicker and creamier than the Raw Sienna and Burnt Umber. I should have tried Yellow Ochre really, but wanted a transparent colour and Yellow Ochre is semi-opaque. I agree on the three colours to buy if you're on a budget, and I haven't had too much time to play with them yet but I do like them. I found it particularly interesting how you compared the Desert yellow browns to the usual raw sienna/burnt umber. The new paints look so much richer in shade. Your puddings are good enough to eat and the sapphire makes a stunning background to your goldfinch!Margarethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17671106157147210236noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1600261154870832251.post-2937251085006308682014-04-17T16:51:59.014+01:002014-04-17T16:51:59.014+01:00Thanks for the useful tips. Thanks for the useful tips.Colours and Textureshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12792990102218724187noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1600261154870832251.post-52857148615124648722014-04-17T16:04:20.564+01:002014-04-17T16:04:20.564+01:00The goldfinch is gorgeous! The goldfinch is gorgeous!mythreebeezhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14083531488984890509noreply@blogger.com
